Life Through Lockdown

To stop the spread of COVID-19 in New Zealand and save lives, under leadership of Jacinda Ardern, the Government sent New Zealand into Alert Level 4 lockdown from 23 March to 27 Aprill 2020.

For a bit of light in the dark, Manawatū District Libraries ran a Poetry Competition to capture people's thoughts and feelings about 'Life Through Lockdown'. What started as just a fun poem between Library workmates at the start of COVID-19 lockdown, turned into a successful public competition.

Each of the poems has been beautifully visually portrayed by Emma O'Sullivan (illustration for '2020' by Joanne Meyer is Meyer's own work) and published in this book as a timeless keepsake of this unprecedented time in our lives.
