NEW PLAY TRAILER
"NEW PLAY TRAILER | HELLO MY NAME IS?

Manawatū District Libraries are pleased to announce that we have a community play trailer! The Play Trailer will make its debut at Rural day on 6th October, where there will be free pop-up play for the community. You will see that we need your help in naming the play trailer. If you have fitting name,
then be sure to come along and say hi and write down your suggestions.

We are so excited to have the play trailer as part of the Community Hub / Library as it will allow us to deliver a wider range of activities for free to the community. The trailer will be available for booking by community groups.

The Play trailer has been made possible by external funding from Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa a Sport NZ fund managed by Regional Sports Trusts and the generous donation of play equipment from
REPLAY. An organisation that repurposes sports equipment. The REPLAY goal is helping give local tamariki and rangatahi the opportunity to be active, happy and healthy whilst giving the environment a hand at the same time.

CITRUS & ROSEMARY CLEANER
MAKE YOUR OWNER CLEANER | CITRUS & ROSEMARY

Citrus peel happens to be one of the trickiest things to compost or recycle. They tend to take forever to breakdown in the compost and they make it acidic in the process. Here's how to make a beautiful toxic free cleaner and it will look beautiful as it infuses together.

Get a big jar with a wide opening and toss your citrus peels in. You can use orange, lemon, grapefruit, lime, mandarin. If you have some rosemary, sage or mint toss that in as well. Exact measurements are important. Fill the jar up with plain white vinegar. Pop a lid on the jar and put it somewhere out of the way for at least four weeks and up to two months.

Every few days give it a stir or a shake. When the vinegar has taken on a golden colour, strain the cleaner through a sieve lined with a coffee filter or piece of clean loose weave cloth. Add two tablespoons of your citrus cleaner to a spray bottle and fill with water for an all-purpose grease cutting cleaner, also windows, hard water deposits and appliance cleaner. If you wish to make a large batch the ratio is 1/2 cup of cleaner to 4 litres of water. Please don't use this acidic cleaner on delicate stone like marble and this cleaner has the benefit of a long shelf life.

SPECIAL MENTIONS
CONFESS
AUTHOR COLLEEN HOOVER

OMG! (only those who read the book will understand the connotation)

This story is all about risking everything for love.
What is unique about this story is the confessions you read within its pages are true confessions submitted by readers anonymously. The confessions are turned into art you will find in the centre of the book to accompany the
deception, love and loss. Secrets, hope and redemption that twist and tangle together.

DARE TO BE WILD
DIRECTOR VIVIENNE DE COURCY
GENRE, BIOGRAPHY, DRAMA, ROMANCE

Based on true events of an Irish woman Mary Reynolds, who goes from an outsider to a champion at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2002. Dare to be Wild is a visual feast. The gardens are, as you would expect, spectacularly beautiful.
At times this film is laugh-out-loud cheesy but has a potent environmental message which is one of the films finer qualities and source of its undeniable charm.

SWIM TEAM, GRAPHIC NOVEL
AUTHOR JOHNNIE CHRISTMAS

Bree can't wait for her first day at Enith Brigitha middle school home to the mighty manatees. She got stuck with the only elective that fits her schedule swim 101, but there is one thing she can't swim. Bree finds an elderly lady named Etta that lives in her neighbourhood that can swim and teaches her the basics to swimming. Can Bree swim her team to victory or is this the last length the mighty manatee's swim. Swim team shows that if you keep dedicated on one small thing you can change something that's big. I loved reading swim team and is a very enjoyable graphic novel to read.

NAT ENOUGH #1 A GRAPHIC NOVEL
AUTHOR AND ILLUSTRATOR
MARIA SCRIVAN

Nat enough is a story about how sometimes the things you are good at is what makes you unique. Natalie tries to impress the popular students but that makes them think of her as more of a nerd then anything. Natalie loves making comics and makes an award-winning comic about her life and how making a friend is hard but keeping a friend is even harder. Her comic is about a strawberry-banana jello frog thay finds out that not everybody is good at everything. Nat enough shows that sometimes you can feel lonely, but you just need to find the people that help and support you in what you do. Nat enough is a great graphic novel and I think that everyone should read this book because it is a very enjoyable story.
