Picture Book Illustration Workshops
A series of 6 workshops for anyone who wants to make their own illustrated picture book. Emilie Geant of www.emiliegeant.com will take participants on a journey to illustrate some text of their own and bring it to life through illustration.

Thursday 1 June 7pm to 8:30pm Session 1: Select your text and style of your picture book
This session is to show you the main steps to make a picture book. Participants are to bring along words that they want to make into a picture e.g. a good short story, poem, something they wrote, words from a book or choose a book something from the Library’s collection on the night.
Thursday 8 June 7pm to 8:30pm Session 2: Begin to draft your picture board
Participants begin to make a rough draft of illustrations in order to transform words/ideas into visuals. Dividing text into sequences in order to match illustrations.
Thursday 15 June 7pm to 8:30pm Session 3: Finalise picture board draft & begin illustrating
Participants create a drafted book to help them work on a pagination that works. Facilitator will explain what is the pagination and why it is important.
Thursday 22 June 7pm to 8:30pm Session 4: Layout and sequence your picture book
Participants finalise their illustration's drafts and the lay out with the text. Participants start thinking about what materials they will use to bring illustrations to life.
Thursday 29 June 7pm to 8:30pm Session 5: Finalise illustrations and add text
Participants finalise booklet. Participants may want to finish final illustrations at home to keep up with the last session.
Thursday 6 July 7pm to 8:30pm Session 6: Put your Picture Book together
Participants put booklet together and start to think about the front and back cover.
Spaces for each workshop are limited so be quick. There is no charge for this event.
