Kiritahi Firmin, is an author, producer and documentary maker with twenty years social service and business experience. Kiritahi is from Kaiwhaiki Marae on the Whanganui River. She is a fluent speaker and educator of the Māori language and custom her book, 'Woman of the River' is a collection of 50 biographies of women of the Whanganui River. Kiritahi has written many short stories, and educational excerpts for children in te reo Māori for early childhood and kura kaupapa. Kiritahi also teaches organics and sustainability on her family farm. She is married with 3 children and a grandmother.
