Access Video on Demand
Manawatu District Libraries is proud to provide free access to Access Video On Demand, an acclaimed streaming video service offering library patrons exceptional content from around the world that they may never have had the opportunity to see before—from Oscar, Emmy, and Peabody Award-winning documentaries to how-to programs that make life easier and richer, top-quality performances spanning the arts, biographies of history makers past and present, and much more.
Across the country, an increasing number of people visit libraries for free services such as DVD rentals, Internet access, and the advice of librarians who can point them to everything from how-to videos on gardening, home repair, and cooking to helpful career planning advice, travel videologues, classroom-appropriate videos, and general-interest programming on history, art, music, science, current affairs, health and fitness, and more. By adding Access Video On Demand, we believe it will help to address these demands with a 21st-century, technology-driven solution.
By providing access to streaming videos, we aim to offer free support and entertainment to a wide range of people, from lifetime learners and aspiring professionals to pupils at local schools, job seekers, and parents of special-needs students who benefit from visual learning aids. Access Video On Demand is a helpful, reliable, and—most importantly—free complement to fee-based, entertainment-focused streaming services such as Netflix.
One of the greatest benefits of Access Video On Demand is its ease of use both in the library and from home—there’s no platform to purchase or download, so access is quick and simple. Any number of people can access it from home or any location with an Internet connection. All that is required is a valid library card number.
