The Girl in the Blue Coat
by Monica Hesse
This book is set in Amsterdam in WW2. Hanneke finds and delivers goods on the black market. One day one of her customers asks her to help find a young Jewish girl who has disappeared from their home. They had been hiding her and they need to find her before the Nazis do. The search leads Hanneke down roads where she didn’t really want to go, meeting people who she wondered if she could trust or not.
This is a YA book but it held insight for me on a personal level because of my mother in law being a young girl in Holland at the time of the Nazi occupation.
Found in the Young Adult collection.
